Santa Clara Valley Medical Center RSC Building
The Santa Clara Valley Medical Center receiving and support building was a design build project with Hensel Phelps and Fentress Architects. It is a 3 story high building with a one level below grade. It provides facility infrastructure for the new main hospital including a new cafeteria, a dock facility for deliveries, and service tunnel to the main hospital.
Landscape goals were to provide a comfortable and decorative streetscape and parking lot setting with safe and clear sight lines. Entry plaza hardscape directly relates to the design layout of the interior flooring.
The landscape was partly influenced by the surrounding campus landscape, such as in the street tree layout and species, but a new design language was also created so future developments can borrow the design style.
