Watsonville Water Resources Center
The Watsonville Water Resources Center supports a joint water recycling project between the City of Watsonville and the Pajaro Valley Water Management Agency. The facility provides recycled water to farmers throughout the south Santa Cruz and north Monterey Counties. This project reduces the need for potable water in the local agricultural industry. The 16,000 square foot facility supports the adjacent water recycling plant; providing administrative offices, laboratory space, and gathering spaces. The facility also includes an educational component by giving school groups tours.
All plants are irrigated with the recycled water produced by the plant facility. Plants are all California native plants and support the educational component of the facility. Site stormwater is collected and infiltrated on site in rain garden and vegetated swales. Also, a water feature was designed to operate when excess recycled water was produced.
